As part of Cultural Awareness Week, the Parents School Organization (PSO) of ACS Doha hosted an International Cultural Fair to celebrate the nationalities represented in the school community.
Ambassadors were invited as representatives of their countries to attend the International Fair with each country hosting its own table. Representatives of each country showcased the major historical events of their countries, provided interesting facts, places of interest and traditions to the students and parents.
This year, there were 33 tables that represent the diversity in the students’ population such as Qatar, Philippines, Canada, Poland, Columbia, Spain, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, Ecuador, Austria, Cuba, Italy, Greece, United States of America, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Syria, Australia, Iraq, Palestine, Mexico, Singapore, Hungary.
“We value the similarities and differences in each person’s culture and heritage that they bring to our lives. We celebrate and share this on a daily basis, both inside and outside the classroom in order to enrich the learning experience of the whole school community,” said Hasna Nada, ACS Doha PSO President.
“Within our halls and classrooms, students, teachers and parents come together to bridge the gap between cultures and languages. We aim to develop hearts and minds that respect cultural differences,” said Diane Hren, Head of School, ACS Doha International School.
The Early Childhood Division also hosted an ‘Early Childhood Costume Parade’ to highlight the multi-culturalism and internationalism that exist in the school. Children were encouraged to wear a costume or item of clothing that reflects where they come from, have lived or are currently living.
