DOHA: Over 30,000 people watched the National Day military parade, a senior official of the organising committee has disclosed.
Another 10,000 to 15,000 people were turned back by the security personnel, because they came late, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday quoting Brig Ali Salman Al Mohannadi, head of the safety and security committee for the National Day celebrations.
The official expressed satisfaction over the smooth functioning of the safety and security arrangements for the National Day and appreciated cooperation of the people in this regard.
Meanwhile, Brig Mohammed Saad Al Kharji, Director of the Traffic Department said that commuters and shops selling vehicle accessories and National Day memorabilia mostly complied with the new regulations imposed by the Department.
