Mobile phone imports rise to $225m

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s imports of mobile phones increased by 3.23 percent to $224.594m during the first four months (July-October) of this fiscal year from the year-ago period, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said yesterday. The imports were $217.568m during the same period last year.
In October, the figure stood at $58.596m, a fall of 3.37pc when compared with the same month of last year, but a rise of 15.26pc over September 2014. The imports cost $60.641m in October 2013 and $50.839m in September 2014.
Similarly, the overall telecom imports also increased by 25.37pc to $524.81 million during the period. The telecom imports during October 2014 increased by 9.16pc and decreased by 7.53pc compared to October 2013 and September 2014, respectively.
