Juventus have named a 24-man squad for the Italiana Supercoppa to be held in Doha on Friday while rival AC Milan’s arrival to Qatar has been delayed by a day.
It is the second time in the last two years that the Italian Supercoppa Final will take on a Qatari flavour when champions Juventus meet Italian Cup runner-up AC Milan at Al Sadd Stadium on Friday.
This will be the ninth time that the Italian Super Cup has been held outside Italy, since 1993. Washington, Tripoli, New York, Beijing, Doha and Shanghai have all played host to this final earlier.
Milan were due to fly out for their match with Juventus yesterday, but their flight has been cancelled, due to a technical problem, according to a report posted on the www.football-italia.net website.
The squad will now fly out today at 15.00 Italian time, 24 hours after their initial scheduled departure.
Meanwhile, Bianconeri have named a couple of youngsters, Luca Coccolo and Mattias Andersson, for the Doha trip.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri Qatar bound team includes Marko Pjaca and Andrea Barzagli, both continuing their comebacks from injury.
In addition, 18-year-old left-back Coccolo has been included in the travelling party after impressing with the Primavera.
Also included is centre-back Andersson, who joined the Old Lady from Malmo in the summer, and is also 18.
Meanwhile, Juventus’ Claudio Marchisio has warned that the clash against Milan “won’t be easy.”
The Bianconeri face Vincenzo Montella’s side in Doha, as they look to win the trophy for the fourth time in five seasons.
Marchisio missed Euro 2016 and the start of the season with a cruciate ligament injury, but has now returned to Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield.
“It won’t be an easy match against Milan, they already beat us in the League."
"We’ll have to be careful, because they’re a team with a lot of youngsters who will want to put on a display and confirm what they’re doing.
