Doha: DPS Monarch International School pledged to plant 1,000 trees as part of its flagship initiative “Each one, sow one”, contributing to Qatar National Vision 2030 intention to plant one million trees.
Students planted more than a thousand saplings in the campus following this declaration.
This 'green revolt' was lauded by Indian Cultural Centre and Chief Guest for the day, Babu Rajan, along with School Directors Rocky Fernandes and Harish Kanjani, Principal Meenal Bakshi, Secondary Headmistress Madhu Uppal and Acting Head of KG and Primary Sujith Kumar. The chief guest delivered a special address and appreciated the initiative.
Meanwhile, the Tree Plantation ceremony was led by Secondary School Head Girl, Saachi Dhadwal.
The “Plant Million Tree” initiative is under the State of Qatar’s commitment to Paris Agreement on Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduce, as trees have special significance in the environmental system and reflections to the human health and lifestyle, and within the context of enhancing their initiatives on limiting the effects of climate change and environmental sustainability efforts.
The Ministry of Municipality has launched the 'Plant Million Tree Initiative'.
To date, according to the Ministry’s website, 2,866 trees have been planted.
