WASHINGTON/DOHA: Patton Boggs announced the election of Charbel M Maakaron and  Lacy L Kolo to the partnership, effective immediately. Both were previously associates at the firm, a press release issued by the firm said yesterday.
“Patton Boggs is pleased to welcome Lacy and Charbel to the partnership,” said Edward J Newberry, Managing Partner of the firm. “They have both demonstrated resolute dedication to the firm, outstanding service to our clients, and continued excellence in the practice of law.”
Charbel Maakaron’s practice focuses on capital markets and acquisitions. Maakaron also draws from his commercial and business law experience to advise clients on commercial transactions, corporate structuring, real estate and commercial litigation. He has a diverse legal practice with a broad mix of prominent clients in Qatar and internationally.
Lacy Kolo counsels clients on the development and management of their intellectual property (IP), focusing on litigation, licensing, monetising IP assets, and the merger and acquisition process. Dr Kolo also utilises her research experience in pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, molecular biology, and software development to litigate complex patent and trade secret matters before the federal courts, the International Trade Commission and alternative dispute resolution forums, recently completing an arbitration in the area of DNA technology. Dr Kolo is resident in the firm’s Washington, DC office and is a member of the IP practice group.
