DOHA: International Islamic opened its three-day Career Day at Doha Sheraton yesterday.
Counters received a good number of enquiries on the opening day.
The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs H E Hussein Al Mulla visited the event.
Our mandatory target is 20 percent Qatarisation per year. But we are looking to enhance it to 35 percent this year, International Islamic CEO Abdul Basit Al Shaibei told this daily.
This is the second edition of our Career Day. Last year, we witnessed a good turnout and there was a significant number of hiring. We expect a better response from eligible candidates this year, he said.
Al Shaibei said selected candidates will get offer letters within a week. They need not wait for long before starting training.
Recruiting young Qataris is a strategic decision taken by our human resource department, and we ensure that hired candidates will be provided with appropriate professional training. They will benefit from career enhancement and promotions, he added.
The Career Day is open to young Qataris who hold a general certificate of education and a university degree with interest in working in the banking sector.
“We are proud to put in action directives issued by H H the Emir, which stress developing young Qataris’ professional skills.
“At International Islamic, we act in accordance with the government’s vision vis-à-vis Qatarisation. Young Qataris are the country’s biggest assets and the bank is committed to investing in them and providing them with best training and professional development programmes,” he added.
On the hiring process, he said a screening committee is interviewing candidates and selecting the right ones for available positions in all departments and branches across the bank’s network.
