Doha: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday met Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his delegation.
They reviewed relations and means of enhancing them and matters of mutual interest.
The Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah also held a separate meeting with Cavusoglu and his delegation and reviewed relations and issues of mutual interest.
Doha: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud and his delegation yesterday left for La Paz, Bolivia, to represent Qatar in the inauguration ceremony of President Evo Morales.
DOHA: A total of 12,557 Qatari voters have registered for the Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections until Monday evening, the supervising committee for the elections said yesterday.
The voters include 7061 males and 5496 females. Registration started on January 11.
The committee has urged eligible voters who have not registered to get their names included in the voters list before registration closes on Thursday.
It praised citizens’ contributions “to ensure this democratic path which allows everyone to express their right to select the members of the CMC”.
Citizens can register online through Metrash 2 or by visiting registration centres in their constituencies.
“All centres received a large number of citizens for registering their names, especially because registration closes on Thursday,” said the statement.
Doha: The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak Al Khulaifi received a written message from the Nepalese Minister of Labour and Employment, Tek Bahadur Gurung, containing an invitation to visit Nepal.
It was delivered by Charge d’Affaires Ganesh Prasad Dhakalas he met the Minister yesterday.
Both sides discussed relations and ways of enhancing them, especially in the field of labour, and matters of common concern.
Doha: Al Wakra Municipality has closed down a restaurant for 10 days for selling food unfit for human consumption.
A cafeteria was also closed for seven days over a similar violation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment caught more than 550 violations last year.
Violations caught by land and sea patrols including grazing camels in restricted areas, dumping waste in undesignated places, wasting sanitation water, felling trees, carrying diesel without licence, using devices to attract birds.
Sea violations included fishing with nets banned in the country, and damaging coral reefs, said Umar Salim Al Nuaymi, Director, Environment Protection Department.
He said patrols are on duty round the clock across the country to protect land and sea.
On the winter camping season, he said the number of registration reached 2,200 and inspections continue to ensure campers are complying with rules and regulations.
Al Nuaymi urged companies and individuals to cooperate with authorities to protect the sea and land environment, especially during rainy season by calling on 998.
