A session of teachers’ training programme at Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ).
Doha: Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) efficaciously structured Teachers’ Training Programme to provide the teachers with an opportunity to learn ‘on the job’ at school and immediately put their new skills into practice.
The programme also aimed at fostering the teaching pedagogies of the teachers by making them abreast of the growing modern trends in the field of education. The training program had exclusively been designed to facilitate the entire teaching faculty of PISQ irrespective of the grade or subject they teach.
The workshops were conducted by Nicola Buscheri, Master’s Degree holder in Education Leadership and Policy (Distinction), from University of Leeds.
She has a vast experience in education and training, and has facilitated numerous sessions both at national and international levels. She held professional learning and development programmes including, Coaching and Mentoring Development Programme, Train the Trainer Programme–Attendance, Assessment and Accreditation, understanding learning difficulties and successful inclusion.
Nicola Buscheri, a committed educationist delivered training sessions for the teachers to support the continuous professional learning and development needs of the teachers.
The map of these workshops was labeled as Collaboration and Students Interaction in the classroom with objectives to develop teaching practices which promote Student’s collaboration and create active learning environment, to differentiate between active and passive learning, to inculcate range of activities to encourage active learning, to know various teaching activities to promote students’ collaboration, discovering creativity in students, working in peers, group studies, and effective use of teaching aids.
The training programme was conducted in the Examination Hall of PISQ.
The trainer highlighted the key objectives, application and output of the training programme. She conducted the workshop based on the activities by involving all the participants and by assigning the roles to the participating teachers. She emphasized the use of body language, facial expressions, intonations and other techniques while teaching students in classrooms.
It was a great learning experience, an additional skill in teaching methodology in classrooms. PISQ administration, especially the Principal Nargis Raza Otho, always takes keen interest in the grooming and training of the teachers by frequently arranging such educational workshops. She anticipated that it will be a great help in teachers’ teaching skills in classrooms, for achieving better results and creating good name for school.
