DOHA: The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) and the Social Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) in Qatar University (QU), in partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF) have announced the launch of the Executive Opinion Survey 2016, in Qatar.
The Executive Opinion Survey, “The Voice of the Business Community”, is a major component of The Global Competitiveness Report and provides the key ingredient that turns the Report into a representative annual measure of a nation’s economic environment and its ability to achieve sustained growth.
The survey gathers valuable information on a broad range of variables for which hard data sources are scarce or non-existent. This is the longest-running and most extensive survey of business conditions worldwide, capturing issues that are highly relevant to national competitiveness. These include the state of an economy’s institutions, business environment, macroeconomic environment, technological advancement, human resources, health, education and infrastructure.
It’s worth mentioning that Qatar leads the Middle East and North Africa region at 14th position, that was declared in the World Economic Forum’s annual report for 2015.
Conveyed by last year’s report, Qatar’s strong Competitiveness rests on the stable economic environment as a result of lower public debt of the state and the high surpluses of the general budget, in addition to the presence of effective market goods as well as the Security stability. Also the simplicity of funding reaching the same global standards where Qatar occupies the first place in the world in regard to the accessibility to loans.
The Global Competitiveness Report has been the World Economic Forum’s flagship publication since 1979 and is widely recognized as the world’s leading cross-country comparison of factors affecting economic competitiveness and growth. Qatar has joined this report through a strategic partnership between the Qatari Businessmen Association and the World Economic Forum; the Association provided an accurate picture of the country ‘s economy and economic achievements that have been undertaken over the past decade where Qatar occupied rank number 1 in the Arab World, reflecting the development of Qatar’s economy steadily and within global standards. The Social Economic Survey Research Institute in Qatar University (SESRI) has joined the survey in recent years to bring scientific expertise to the survey that can be added to the Association experience.
The Report details the country’s economic profile for each of the economies featured in the study, providing a comprehensive summary of the overall position in the Index rankings as well as a guide to what are considered to be the most prominent competitive advantages to each while shedding light to the areas that need more development and support.
The rankings are based on a combination of publicly available hard data and the results of the Executive Opinion Survey, a comprehensive annual survey conducted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), together with its network of Partner Institutes in the countries covered by the Report.
A sample of company executives in Qatar will be asked to complete this important and confidential survey. The Qatari businessmen association and SESRI note that it is vitally important that each executive sampled complete the survey to ensure that Qatar has accurate and reliable data in the Report. The Peninsula
