DOHA: The living conditions of migrant workers in the region will be discussed at a public seminar tomorrow by the Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of the Qatar Foundation .
The seminar titled “Migrant workers: Ethical perspectives on challenging questions” will take place at LAS building at Qatar Foundation from 6pm to 8pm.
It will discuss migrant workers’ living conditions and will provide suggestions to improve their situation in the light of the higher objectives of Islam/Maqasid Al Shariah and the universal values, said a press statement yesterday.
The participants include Sheikh Dr Ahmed Raissouni, President of the League of Sunni Scholars; Boyko Atanasov, Programme Director in the American Center for International Labour Solidarity; and Dr Musab Al Khair, Professor at the College of Shariah and Islamic Studies at Qatar University.
This event is part of a series of public seminars and lectures organised by CILE, bringing together scholars of the Islamic Law/text and “scholars of the context” to tackle the critical issues of the day in various fields and professions, namely, methodology, bioethics, environment, politics, food, psychology, economics, education, media, arts and gender issues
