DOHA: The Belgian Saxophone Ensemble comprising six talented musicians is set to captivate music lovers in Qatar at a concert on August 29 at the Katara Opera House.
Organised by the Belgian Embassy and hosted by Katara, the evening is a celebration of the 200th birth anniversary of Antoine-Joseph ‘Adolphe’ Sax, the inventor of the saxophone.
Belgian musical instrument designer and musician Adolphe Sax was born in November 6, 1814 and died on February 7, 1894. Before inventing the saxophone, Sax studied how to play the flute and the clarinet at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He moved to Paris in 1841, where he began to make musical instruments and developed the saxophone.
This initiative was suggested by Belgian Ambassador Herman Merck to Katara. He lauded the cultural role played by Katara in bringing different cultures from the West and East together.
The concert will be performed by six musicians who have played sold out concerts as they toured around world. At each of its concerts the sextet tries to create a unique unrepeatable world of sound with which the audience feels completely involved. The musicians have full mastery of all aspects of their instruments and demonstrate their skill with ease.
Tickets are available at Virgin Megastores in Villaggio and Landmark.
