SIF Qatar holds online orientation on Children’s Science Congress

Doha: Science India Forum (SIF) Qatar has recently announced the Qatar Children’s Science Congress (QCSC) 2021. 

The Children’s Science Congress is a programme conducted by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India with an objective to encourage children to explore, think, and learn by doing and to imbibe in them a scientific temperament. 

SIFQ conducted an online orientation programme for the students and guide teachers.

Dr. Lalit Sharma, a Science Communicator and Chairman of National Academic Committee of Children Science Congress, conducted an interactive session with his presentation on Children Science Congress. 

He has discussed the ground rules on participation, guidelines on how to select project, how to conduct it with scientific methods and reach to proper conclusion and highlighted the benefits for the students in overall development by acquiring various skills.

Dr. Sharma explained the focal theme “Science for sustainable living” and five sub themes — Eco System for Sustainable Living; Appropriate Technology for Sustainable Living; Social Innovation for Sustainable Living; Design, Development and Modelling for Sustainable Living; Traditional Knowledge System (TKS) for Sustainable Living.  

The students should select a relevant science project based on any one of the sub themes for their research. 

Dr. Sharma emphasised the objectives behind the programme which are — to learn and understand about ecology, economy and society; to apply scientific understanding in day-to-day decision-making; to design, develop an approach and/or solution for tapping potentials and overcoming the challenges identified.
