New York: Secretary-General of the United Nations HE Antonio Guterres expressed his thanks and gratitude for the efforts of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in helping to secure the release of two American citizens from the Gaza Strip.
In a statement by Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric on Saturday, Guterres called for unhindered and sustained humanitarian access in Gaza; full respect for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians; as well as for a concerted effort by the international community to avoid a wider regional spill-over of the conflict
