Doha: The Human Rights Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in collaboration with Legal and Judicial Studies Centre at Ministry of Justice organised a workshop on human rights for the participants of sixth compulsory training course for assistant judges. The workshop consisted of theoretical and practical sessions.
The head of humanitarian and social services section at Human Rights Department Major Mohammed Ali Al Kubaisi said that training workshop discussed role of human rights in the works of MoI in the light of experience of the Human Rights Department.
He said that the relationship with the centre serves the common goals of the parties in the area of security and criminal justice. It reflects trends of the Department in its openness to the local, regional and international authorities, including the National Human Rights Committee, United Nations Centre for Training and Documentation in Human Rights and the Centre for Legal and Judicial Studies. He said the also monitors and evaluates the human rights conditions of prisoners and address complaints from citizens and residents.
Dr Osama Aloosi, legal adviser at the Department gave a lecture on culture of human rights and its relation with security work. First Lieutenant Hussain Musfir Al Ahbabi, officer of complaints section at the Department presented a practical application on the powers of complaints section and its legal jurisdiction. Lieutenant Mahdi Al Dosari explained procedures of current complaints and how they are treated.
