Society knocks at the doors of ministries

I laud the efforts of our wise leaders and the Cabinet to achieve development and the prosperity of the people in ways that suit the requirements of the times we live in. Therefore, we love our leaders, help them, cooperate with them, and support them as we know that they care about the interests of this country and its citizens, and are doing everything possible for the benefit of our country.

God only knows that we have sincere and honest intentions that spring from our love for our country, its people and its leaders, who share our joys and sorrows and consult us before taking decisions. We consider all these things as a blessing. We can see the honesty of our leaders for sure, but there are some things that need to be discussed.

Obvious unemployment, not masked unemployment:

Earlier, people used to talk of masked unemployment; however, today unemployment has become obvious and is clear to everybody. We see a large number of young people searching for jobs that suit their qualifications and experience. Unfortunately, these youth are doing their best but in vain, as there are no organisations that can employ them, with the exception of a few institutions that cannot accommodate all of them.

Compulsory and early retirement:

Some of our sons and daughters may find themselves threatened by the interests and whims of their seniors in some ministries and organisations. These seniors use the law only to serve their own interests. In doing so, they decide the fate of other human beings who are usually the main pillars in the development of resources.

Poor people in the richest country:

It is not fair to keep insisting that we do not have poor people in our country. Poverty exists in some families, where some of them keep silent while others knock at the doors of ministries and charities to get support.

Formation of higher committee for follow-up of community affairs and development:

There is a need to find practical solutions to the problems of the people of this country by establishing a committee that will investigate the reasons for the accumulation of debts by citizens, as banks are not taking into consideration people’s circumstances. Because of usury the citizens stay lifetime debtors, and the debts are transferred to their family members after their death. Some of these debts start at QR1m, but then rise to QR5m and then QR10m because of usury.

I suggest that the proposed committee include members from different ministries, institutions and civil society organisations and representative of different segments of society. These committee members should be aware of prevailing circumstances in the society and the places where the poor and debtors live. The committee’s mission should be to support these people so that they can contribute to the development of society and become self-sufficient. These segments of our society should not be abandoned to charities or left at the mercy of banks.

Everybody is bored and tired of slogans and empty pronouncements by some officials and institutions, who need to have sincerity, which is what pleases God and the seniors who entrusted them with the job of developing society.

My prayer for this country and its people is may this country as well as other Islamic countries be stable and safe. I plead with God to protect our leaders and reward them.
