DOHA: Abu Samra on Qatar-Saudi Arabia border will be the coldest place in the country till date this season as minimum temperature there is expected to drop to 11 degrees Celsius past midnight.
During the day, however, the place will witness a moderate temperature of up to 25 degrees Celsius, said the weather bureau.
The night will also be cold in places like Messaieed, Al Wakra, Al Khor and Dukhan. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 13 degrees in all three towns.
According to a routine forecast released by the weather bureau for today, the night wouldn’t be as cold in Doha and Al Ruwais.
The minimum temperatures forecast for these places are 16 degrees and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively. Day temperatures will hover around 26 degrees in Doha and 23 degrees in Al Ruwais in the extreme north of the country.
Elsewhere in the country, the maximum temperature forecast is 25 degrees Celsius.
Overall, the country will have a foggy start which will affect visibility at places. Visibility could be as low as a kilometre and even less at places early in the morning, followed by sunshine.
The sun will play hide and seek as on land it will be first misty and foggy with some clouds, while over the seas it will be partly cloudy, becoming slightly dusty later. There will be strong winds and haze over the sea as night falls. Visibility is expected to improve both inland and offshore as the day progresses, to four
to eight kilometre.
The wind will be southeasterly to southwesterly inland with speeds of up to 13 knots an hour. But as the night falls, the wind will change direction to northwest and gather speeds of up to 10 to 20 knots an hour.
This will lead to a nip in the air as the wind blows from the colder regions of Europe.
A similar situation will occur offshore as well except that when the wind changes direction to northwest at night it will have more sting as it could blow at speeds of up to 25 knots an hour.
The seas could be choppy at night with waves jumping as high as five to eight feet.
