ISLAMABAD: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari yesterday signed the Investigation for Fair Trial Bill 2013 into law during a special ceremony at the president house in Islamabad.
The bill was passed by the National Assembly on December 20, 2012, and by the Senate on February 1, 2013.
According to its stated objectives, the new law provides for investigation for collection of evidence by means of modern techniques and devices to prevent and effectively deal with scheduled offences and to regulate the powers of the law enforcement and intelligence agencies and for matters connected therewith or ancillary thereto.
In another ceremony, President Zardari signed Trade Organisation Bill 2013 into law.
The signing ceremony was attended by Salim H Mandviwala, Minister for Finance, Farooq H Naek, Minister for Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, some federal ministers, the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan and high ranking officials.
The bill was passed by the National Assembly on November 19 last year and by the Senate on February 6.
The bill aimed at providing for the registration and regulation of trade organisations to ensure appropriate representation of all genders and business sectors at all levels in trade organisations as they play a significant role in developing policy framework for improving the business environment and economic growth in the country.
