Doha: President of Qatar Women Sport Committee (QWSC) Lulua Al Marri underlined that the committee had completed all preparation to host the 5th edition of the GCC Women's Games, due to be held in Doha from March 7 to 17.
Al Marri said that the tournament will be held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
She noted that five GCC countries will take part in the tournament. A total of 500 players are expected to participate in 13 games. She also pointed out that competitions will be held on Aspire Dome, the Ladies Club in Aspire Zone, the Equestrian Federation, and Lusail Shooting Circuit, Qatar Sports Club, Qatar Bowling Center, and Qatar Chess Association.
She noted that the organizing committee of the event has been holding daily meeting form more than two months to prepare for the exceptional tournament which is being held in Qatar for the first time, and includes 13 games for the first time.
She also highlighted the essential role of the Qatari unions which will oversee their games in all technical and administrative areas under the supervision of Qatar Olympic Committee and the supreme organization committee of the tournament.
