Doha: The Ministry of Public Health has warned against using infant formula milk products for special uses - Similac Human Milk Fortifier, Elecare, Elecare JR - produced by Abbott company, origin in the United States of America due to the possibility of contamination of some batches of these products with Salmonella and Chronobacter bacteria. MoPH recommended consumers to avoid consuming it in order to preserve the health of their children.
The Ministry took the necessary precautionary measures, as soon as it received a notification from the international network of food safety officials "Infosan" regarding potentially contaminated baby milk powder products. The precautionary measures included withdrawing and preventing the sale of these products and referring samples of them for laboratory analysis, and measures were taken to withdraw samples of similar imported products. The ministry pointed out that the market places distributing suspected contaminated products were limited due to the nature of these products.
The Ministry of Public Health also said that no cases of illness due to these products have been recorded in the country.
