DOHA: Katara, the Cultural Village, and Aspire Zone Foundation have entered into a unique collaboration to provide events and activities which integrate arts and culture into sports aimed at raising awareness of their importance to the society.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in this regard yesterday at Katara between Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti and Aspire Zone Head Hilal bin Jaham Al Kuwari.
“Our cooperation with Katara is not new; it has been going on. We hope the signing of this MoU will lead to a better cooperation and benefit both parties through sharing of resources,” Al Kuwari told reporters at the signing event yesterday in Katara.
Under the agreement Katara and Aspire Zone will jointly cooperate in promotional and marketing activities as well as organising special events.
In particular the partnership is set to contribute to the awareness of arts and culture and sports through festivals, exhibitions, seminars and other sports and cultural activities which will encourage participation among citizens and residents.
“We are delighted to join forces with Aspire Zone, the agreement will have a significant positive impact on the community by highlighting the importance of sports through arts and culture. The agreement supports the Qatar National Vision 2030, which promotes an active and healthy lifestyle, and we aim to educate, entertain and inform the Qatari people and residents through culture,” said Al Sulaiti.
The agreement will also enable production and distribution of cultural and sports publications that reflect the goals of the two institutions.
In addition the two parties will work together with local and international institutions, including ministries and other government agencies and companies in the private sector.
“We are pleased to announce this partnership which we believe will benefit all segments of society. We will work to create a healthy Qatar by integrating sport and culture. We look forward to working with Katara to deliver the events and activities we have lined up,” said Al Kuwari.
