Doha: Maersk Oil Qatar has launched its 2015 recruitment drive to attract more Qataris to work with the country’s largest offshore operator and increase the number of those in leadership, specialist and offshore roles.
Three Qataris who have forged successful careers at the company will front the latest phase of the ‘Find Your Place’ campaign, which has contributed to a rise in the number and calibre of Qatari applicants and employees, said a statement yesterday.
‘Find Your Place’ promotes the message of ‘real jobs with real responsibilities’ through personal experiences of talented Qatari employees. It will bolster recruitment to help successfully deliver the company’s Qatarisation strategy, alongside workplace initiatives like one-to-one coaching, mentoring and fast-track development for high achievers.
‘Find Your Place’ comprises print, mall and online advertising in addition to an online information and job application portal www.FindYourPlace.qa
Lewis Affleck, Managing Director, said: “Our focus is on delivering safe, efficient and reliable operations and we can’t do that without the best and brightest talent. Qatarisation is a key business priority for us. As part of the Maersk Group, with five separate business units active in Qatar and operations in more than 130 countries worldwide, I believe there is no better international company for talented Qataris to join.”
Deputy Team Lead, Marine and Pipeline, Mohammed Al Marri, Head, HR Services, Moza Yousef Al Naimi, and Inspection Coordinator, Khalid Jassim Haji, will highlight their experiences and career progression at the company.
Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al Thani, Deputy Managing Director of the company, said: “Talented Qataris have helped build our reputation as specialists in extracting oil from the complex Al Shaheen field, offshore Qatar, but we need more if we are to unlock the full potential of this important national resource. Our Qatarisation strategy is driven by our goal to support Qatar in achieving its National Vision 2030 and we look forward to more Qataris finding their place in the company in 2015 to do so.”
In 2013, the company’s Qatarisation strategy stated a commitment to quadruple the number of Qataris in leadership and senior specialist positions by 2017.
With that in mind, programmes were launched to support Qataris’ career and leadership development, arming them with skills, tools, confidence and support to manage people, lead projects or become senior specialists and leaders.
Sheikh Jassim bin Saud Al Thani, Head of Qatarisation at the company, said “Attracting, developing and retaining the very best Qatari talent will be as important for us in the future as it has been in the past.
“As part of the Maersk Group, with operations in every corner of the globe, Qataris can rest assured that they will receive world-class opportunities at the company.” the peninsula
