Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha celebrated the Sinhala and Hindu New Year recently by organising many traditional dances, games and competitions. The celebration, which coincides with the paddy harvesting season in Sri Lanka, brings together the entire farming population. The most entertaining events were passing the water balloon, fancy dress parade, musical hats and identifying the mystery visitor. There were games lined up for the parents and teachers as well. The tug-of-war among students, parents and teachers was keenly contested. The event was also attended by Kumudu Fonseka, school chairman and members of the Board of Trustees. The event ended with the national anthem of Sri Lanka.
