DOHA: Qatar Exchange (QE) main index lost 72.37 points, or 0.58 percent, during the past week to close at 12,443.49 points yesterday.
The real estate sector was the only gainer, supported Ezdan and Mazaya Real Estate Development by 3.08 percent and 2.54 respectively.
Trading value during the week increased by 16.27 percent to QR3bn from the previous week’s QR2.7bn. Trading volume increased by 29.37 percent to over 98 million shares, while the number of transactions rose by 16.57 percent to 36,032 transactions.
Market capitalisation fell by 0.62 percent to QR661bn at the end of previous week.
The Real Estate sector led trading value during the week, accounting for 44.66 percent of the total trading value, followed by Banks and Financial Services sector; the Industrials sector and insurance.
The trading volume was led by the Real Estate sector, accounting for 61.04 percent of the total trading volume, followed by Banks and Financial Services sector, telecoms sector and consumer goods and services.
The Real Estate sector led trading number of transactions during the week, accounting for 40.41 percent of the total number of transactions. 16 companies of the 43 listed companies ended this week higher, while 25 fell and 2 remained unchanged.
The Ezdan Holding Group led trading value during this week, accounting for 29.97 percent of the total trading value, followed by Barwa Real Estate and Masraf Al Rayan.
The market witnessed good liquidity which supported the index to break important resistance levels like 12,650 points, Mubasher quoted analysts as saying. Investors actively traded on the stocks in real estate, consumer goods and services, and industrials sectors. Among the sector indices, the consumer goods and services was the top loser. The sector fell 1.55 percent. Industrials lost 1.19 percent. While insurance and telecoms edged 1.03 percent and 1.07 percent, respectively, Transportation sector lost 0.81 percent. Yesterday, the index slipped 0.63 percent . Barring Insurance and Telecoms, the entire sector indices ended red. Despite slipping 3 percent, Ezdan was the most active company with a trading volume reaching 4.8 million shares at a turnover of QR100.83m.The Peninsula
