Foreign governments express solidarity with Qatar over Ras Laffan Industrial City incident

Doha, Qatar: Qatar has received widespread expressions of solidarity and condolence from governments and diplomatic missions following the incident at the Barzan local gas supply facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The incident, which occurred during operational activity, resulted in fatalities and injuries, prompting an immediate response from relevant authorities and an ongoing process of assessment and recovery.

As updates emerged, countries across the region and beyond issued official statements conveying sympathy, support, and reassurance of close ties with the State of Qatar. Embassies and foreign ministries also extended condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for the swift recovery of those injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates conveyed the UAE’s solidarity with the government and people of Qatar, extending its wishes for a speedy recovery for all those injured.

Jordan also voiced its support, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirming “full solidarity and support for the government and people of brotherly Qatar” in what it described as a painful affliction, while wishing a swift recovery for the injured and safety for those reported missing.

The Embassy of India expressed its solidarity with Qatar during this “challenging and difficult time,” adding its prayers for the injured and missing. The embassy also provided helpline numbers for members of the Indian community seeking assistance.

Australia’s ambassador to Qatar, HE Shane Flanagan, conveyed his condolences in a social media post, expressing sympathy and offering prayers for those missing, injured, and their families.

The Sultanate of Oman, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed its solidarity with Qatar and reiterated its support for the country and its people, wishing a speedy recovery for those affected.

Egypt also declared its full solidarity with Qatar, stating its confidence in the ability of Qatari authorities to manage the consequences of the incident and contain its impact.

The Spanish Embassy in Qatar conveyed its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and expressed solidarity with the people of Qatar and all those affected by the tragedy.

The Embassy of Pakistan extended its heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured, also providing helpline numbers for Pakistani nationals requiring assistance.

The Delegation of the European Union to the State of Qatar expressed its deepest sympathy, stating that its thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the incident.
