Doha: More than 20 volunteers from Reach Out To Asia (Rota), Qatar’s leading non-profit and community development organisation, gathered to celebrate Iftar with residents at Qatar Foundation for Elderly Care (QFFC)
Having partnered with Rota for seven years, QFEC has been a long-standing partner of Rota’s volunteer programme and an integral part of Rota’s Ramadan campaign.
Rota Board Member Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, along with volunteers and QFEC staff, visited the elderly during and after the event.
Volunteers offered assistance and dined with residents, helping serve an exquisite meal to them. Volunteers from Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY) Qatar, the exclusive sponsor of Rota’s Ramadan project and QMDI joined the celebration.
“Residents at QFEC have given us so much over the course of their lives, which is why we are so proud and eager to spend time with them and give back to the wider community during Ramadan,” said Dr Sheikha Aisha. “Each year I am heartened by the joy I see among residents and the enthusiasm of Rota’s volunteers as they help elderly residents and enjoy a meal together.”
“Our Iftar with residents is rewarding for them and Rota volunteers alike,” said Mohamed Al Saleh, National Programme Director, Rota. “The event unites generations for a joyous and mutually beneficial activity that embodies values of volunteerism and community service. We are grateful to OXY Qatar and our volunteers for making this event a success each year.” The Peninsula
