PESHAWAR: At least eight people were killed and 28 injured due to heavy rain in Peshawar, capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan.

Rescue sources in the city said heavy rains and hail hit Peshawar last night killing at least eight people and injuring 28 in various parts of the city.

"Four people of one family and four others died in various parts of Peshawar after the roofs of their houses collapsed due to heavy showers and hailstorms," said Zahir-ul-Islam, a senior administration official in Peshawar.

"At least 25 others, including five women, were also wounded," he added. (QNA)
