The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani addressed the 75th United Nations General Assembly today.
In his speech H H Amir reiterated that unconditional dialogue based on common interests and respect for the sovereignty of states is the way to solve the Gulf crisis and added that lifting the illegal blockade would be the first step to end it.
“After more than three years have passed since the start of the unjust and illegal blockade on the State of Qatar, nevertheless we kept to the path towards progress and development in various fields. Despite the blockade, Qatar has strengthened its effective participation in the multilateral international efforts to find a solution to different crises,” H H Amir said.
“Throughout the unjust and unlawful blockade, we have consolidated our policies which are based on the respect of the principles and provisions of international law and united Nations Charter especially the principle of respecting the sovereignty of the states and rejecting intervention in their internal affairs of states.
“We bear moral and legal responsibility towards our people. We have stressed and we will continue to stress that unconditional dialogue based on common interests and respect for the sovereignty of states is the way to solve this (Gulf) crisis.
“It (Gulf crisis) started with imposing an illegal blockade and lifting this blockade would be the first step to end it,” H H Amir said during the speech.
