Four arrested for QR8m robbery

The four arrested burglars seen with valuables worth a whopping QR8m they stole from a jewellery shop in Al Sadd.

DOHA: Qatar’s public security agencies have busted a four-member gang of European burglars who broke into a jewellery shop in the posh 

Al Sadd locality of the city and stole valuables worth a staggering QR8m. 

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the four members of the gang within 48 hours of the crime having been committed.

An Interior Ministry release said yesterday that after the CID received the information, an action plan was prepared for speedy arrest of the culprits and to conduct investigations.

Initial investigations indicated that behind the crime were four persons of European nationalities who had entered the country through the visa granted for nationals of 33 countries at the Doha International Airport 

on arrival. 

It also became evident that they are residing in a hotel near the gold market.

After legal proceedings and obtaining the permission from prosecutors, the CID arrested the perpetrators by trapping them. Large sums of money were found during a search. 

The car they were using was seized and the investigations revealed that they leased it from a car rental company.

Large quantities of jewellery and watches, in addition to passports and fake credit cards were also found in the car. Apart from these, some of the tools that were used for breaking the doors of the shop were also found.
