DOHA: Ooredoo has launched a real-time online fibre availability map, enabling customers to track the roll-out progress of Qatar’s broadband network.
The map which has already gone live on Ooredoo’s website enables customers to see if they qualify to update their service, by checking if they reside in a fibre-ready ‘Green’ area.
Current Ooredoo customers living within a ‘Green’ area can request a free upgrade to fibre Internet in three steps.
First, customers can check whether they reside within a Fibre available “Green” area by visiting www.ooredoo.qa/en/fibre and clicking on the ‘Getting Connected’ link.
Second, all customers living in “Fibre Available” areas should call the Ooredoo Fibre Team on 181 and request an appointment for installation. The last step is a visit by the Fibre installation team on the appointment date to connect the premises to the Ooredoo Fibre network.
Mozaic TV customers who upgrade to Fibre will receive the Next Generation Mozaic TV service, which allows them to access the Video-On-Demand service as well as play, pause or rewind television features and much more.
Fibre packages start at QR233 for Home Broadband and Voice services. Customers will be able to download content, games and music faster than before from their favourite services. Customers who want the fastest Internet speeds —100 Mbps plan — can choose the service for QR650 per month.
After a year of installation and development, the service is available for customers across Doha, with on-going work to extend the service to customers across the country in the months ahead.
Since 2012, Ooredoo’s commercial rollout of Ooredoo Fibre has passed more than 195,000 homes and connected more than 85,000 homes.
Qatar has had the fastest fibre network roll-out in the world, according to a report from global management consulting firm Arthur D Little.
