DOHA: The latest data from the Social Security Department at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs reveals that the number of beneficiaries of social assistance has reached 13,674 this year, out of which 9,738 are female, Al Raya reported.
In all, 2,180 elderly persons — 1,797 men and 383 women — receive social assistance, representing 15.9 percent of the total. The number of senior citizens who receive an allowance for a housemaid has reached 2,339, representing 17 percent of the total.
Those receiving an allowance for physical disability number 1,868 (1,739 male and 138 female), representing 13.66 percent of the total.
The number of people receiving social insurance assistance for a housemaid has reached 1,575, out of which 1,107 are men and 468 women, representing 11.52 percent of the total. The number of divorced women receiving assistance has reached 1,141.
