DOHA: Al Arabi and Al Rayyan cleared their primary hurdles in the Qatar Cup when the two teams outplayed their respective rivals in the first leg of semi-finals played yesterday at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena.
Al Arabi Club had no difficulty in beating El Jaish in straight sets in their semi-final (25/16, 27/25 and 25/18) but the other semi-final of the day depicted a different story.
Al Rayyan Sports Club had to withstand an immense pressure from Police team to beat the later in a well-fought five setter. The final scores read 3-2 (26/24, 24/26, 25/23, 22/25 and 15/12) in favour of Al Rayyan.
The four teams will each other twice and if there is a tie, a third match will be held on April 26 to break the deadlock.
The final will be held on April 28 at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena.
