Doha: The Ministry of Justice has started a project to raise legal awareness, one of its major efforts in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
In a statement, the Minister of Justice H E Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr Al Mohannadi said that after his appointment he started working on the  initiative to explain Qatari legislations to people.
He said the Prime Minister and Interior Minister endorsed the idea, which saw annual awards handed for legal annotations.
The initiative focuses on basic laws such as civil and criminal laws, Dr Al Mohannadi said, adding there will be cooperation with Qatar University’s College of Law because such laws require academic expertise.
He said one of the main objectives of the initiative is to encourage more Qatari legal research, which is why it will be exclusive to Qatari researchers at first.
A research can be, however, done jointly by a Qatari and a non-Qatari for the sake of exchanging expertise.
