DOHA: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation — Kahramaa — is holding a Scholarship Open Day until tomorrow from 8am to noon at InterContinental Hotel.
The event aims at attracting secondary graduates to avail of scholarship opportunities in engineering fields.
Engineer Nasser Al Mohannadi, Corporate Services Director, said, “By organising the event, we seek to build a firm base of promising talents. All secondary graduates looking for established academic and career plan are invited to join Kahramaa and seize training opportunities it provides.”
Aisha Al Motawa, Head of Qatarisation, Training, and Development, said, “Since its launch in 2007, the scholarship programme has attracted lots of promising cadres.”
She said Kahramaa provides training for scholars through four to six-month qualification programme, including courses to equip them with professional and technical knowledge they require for work.
The Scholarship Unit at the Qatarisation, Training, and Development Section facilitates procedures for students by holding an academic guidance day to display financial and academic procedures.
Students also receive a booklet, including detailed information about the scholarship programme, Kahramaa’s responsibilities and student role.
The unit keeps in touch with students and their universities by all means of communication, including electronic channels and social media platforms.
Al Motawa stressed that Al Kahramaa President, Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, pays attention to development and encouragement of Qatari cadres and talents.
“Under his patronage, an annual ceremony is held to honour graduates and distinguished students,” she added.
The event comes within Kahramma’s investment in the human capital and aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar National Development Strategy 2011-2016.
Kahramaa pursues Qatarisation as per its corporate objective — ‘Attract, Develop and Retain a High-performing Workforce and Support Qatarisation’.
