Doha: Seventy-one school students went through Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU-Q) Eighth Summer College Preview Programme (SCPP) on its campus, the university said yesterday.
The four-week programme bridges the gap between high school and university, introducing students to college classes and preparing them for the college admissions process.
It also introduces students to programmes offered at the university, including biological sciences, business administration, computational biology, computer science and information systems.
Students experience majors CMU-Q offers through lab-based courses that give them hands-on experience of the disciplines.
They are exposed to university-level maths, including differential calculus, academic writing, and personal and professional developmental workshops to improve their competitiveness on college applications.
This year, students are being taught by 14 professors from leading high schools and universities across the world, CMU-Q said. QNA
