QTA promises a spectacular Eid

Doha: Qatar is set to witness the largest Eid Al Adha celebrations this year, with major attractions taking place at Katara, Pearl-Qatar, Museums, Aquapark, Aspire and Souq Waqif among other venues. 

Starting from October 26 till November 1, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will organise six-day programmes of festivities in partnership with a number of leading cultural and art institutions, a QTA release said yesterday. The lineup of events will include folklore games, entertainment contests, crafts, traditional Qatari feasts, art performances, fireworks, heritage exhibitions, concerts as well as other outdoor activities.

“We are very excited to bring to Qatar the largest Eid celebration yet. This festival follows the great success we had with Eid Al Fitr activities that attracted a large number of visitors from around the region and the engaged the country in a nationwide celebration,” Abdullah Mallala Al Bader, Director of Tourism at QTA, said.

“To all guests coming to Doha whether through our borders or the airport, the Eid celebration will begin from the moment they touch down on Qatar soil,” Al Bader added.

On the Abu Samra border, QTA will receive neighbouring guests with flowers and cold refreshments and distribute the Eid programme and the tourism map of Qatar. In addition, an information booth has been placed at the airport to distribute the Eid programme and tourism guides.

The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage is taking part in the Eid entertainment activities with a rich schedule of activities including traditional performances in addition to a number of popular games and entertainment contests, crafts, traditional Qatari feasts, art performances. These will all take place at Corniche Al Dafna starting from 4pm to 11pm.

Katara will feature a dramatic fireworks show that will light up the skies of Doha starting from 8.:30pm on the first day of Eid. 

Cultural activities will run from the first day of the Eid till the fourth day at Souq Waqif, which will also include magic shows, kids games, concerts and shows such as Touyour Al Jannah (Birds of Heaven) and Hala Turk. 

Aspire Zone will host the popular children theatrical show “Dora the Explorer” on the first and second day of Eid. The Pearl Qatar will hold a number of activities for families including carousel, face painting and other fun games from 4pm to 8pm all through Eid Al Adha.

The Qatar National Theatre will host “Doha Got Talent” show during the first day of Eid, where as Al Rayyan Theatre at Souq Waqif will host live concerts of top artists, starting from 9pm until midnight. Over the Eid holidays, Aquapark will also hold activities for families and the Museum of Islamic Art Park will welcome visitors from 10:30 am until 05:30pm.  The Eid activities list of partners include the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Katara, the Pearl-Qatar, Souq Waqif, Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), Aquapark, Aspire, Fun Land, Dream Park, Sawt Al Rayan, q.media, while participating malls and commercial centers are the Mall, the Gate, Lagoona Mall, Royal Plaza, Landmark Mall, Hyatt Plaza and Al Khor Mall.  The Peninsula
