DOHA: Labour ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member-states are meeting in Kuwait today to discuss, among other issues, ways to encourage private sectors in their respective countries to provide more jobs to locals and GCC nationals.
On the sidelines of the ministers’ conclave, undersecretaries of the labour and social affairs ministries in the GCC states will also be meeting.
The meetings and workshops will continue until Tuesday, QNA reported.
Companies and small and medium-sized enterprises from the region will be awarded for launching social welfare projects as part of their social responsibility commitments.
Former labour ministers of the GCC states will also be honoured, for their contribution to social welfare schemes for their country’s citizens.
