Doha: Al Rayyan trounced Qatar SC 9-0 to extend their unbeaten run in the Qatar Stars League to nine matches.
Yesterday, in the Round 9 match, Rodrigo Barbosa Tabata’s four goals stood out for coach Jorge Fossati’s side.
Sergio Garcia Fuente found the net twice while Victor Javier Caceres, Andres Sebastian Quintana and Abdulmajid Anad Diri scored once. In the other matches, Al Sadd were made to work by an attacking Al Kharaitiyat side andeventually took all three points in a tough 4-2 win at home, while Lekhwiya coach Djamel Belmadi had a sigh of relief as his team have finally managed to get a win under their belts after five losses and a draw.
The defending champions defeated Al Khor 3-2.
But at the end of the first half, things didn’t look that pleasant for Lekhwiya. Nam Tae-Hee had missed a penalty in the 35th minute, and then in the 42nd minute it was the turn of Lekhwiya to concede a penalty
Striker Julio Cesar made no mistake from the spot as Al Khor acquired a surprise lead against the defending champions.
The second half was a busy one with four goals scored in total. The first was the equaliser for Lekhwiya and came courtesy of Khalid Muftah.
But then just when it looked like Lekhwiya were wrestling control of the match, Khor went back into the lead when Cesar scored the second of his goals in the 57th minute. Lekhwiya struck through a combined move. Vladimir Weiss. The Slovakian slalomed inside the box and crossed to an unmarked Nam Tae-Hee who made redeemed himself for his penalty miss earlier on by finding the back of the net this time (74’).
The winning goal came in the 88th minute. Luiz Martin Jr ran down the right flank and crossed to Mohamed Muntari who was able to leap above Al Khor’s Naif Mubarak Al Buriki and head the ball into the net.
At Al Sadd Stadium, the hosts took the lead through Ibrahim Magid in the 18th minute.
Al Kharaitiyat equalised through Kebe in the 34th minute and the same player added a second one a minute later. Khalfan Ibrahim equalised from the penalty spot at the stroke of half time for the Wolves. A Hassan gave Al Sadd the lead in the 73rd minute while three minute later, Haydous put the issue beyond doubt for Al Sadd.
