Doha: MES Indian School conducted an orientation session for its teachers on the theme ‘Empowered Teachers Empower Students’.
The session began with a motivational speech by the school principal, Hameeda Kadar, reminding teachers to be proactive in imparting study skills to students. She conducted an interactive session titled ‘Conceptual Learning and 21st Century Skills’ for teachers, accentuating various effective methods including 3Rs — Remedial, Recall, and Revision — to be adopted in their everyday lesson activities.
The topics covered by the teaching faculty during the first day of orientation were ‘Behavioral Problems-Identification and Management’ by Fathima Samar, School Counsellor; ‘Effective Communication Skills’ by Aleena Angel and RGSRL Pushyami; and ‘Differential Learning Strategies’ by Jahfar Niyas.
The topics of the second and the third day of the orientation programme included ‘Early Identification of Slow Learners’ by RGSR L Pushyami (School Counsellor); ‘School Rules, Policies and Procedures’ by the HR Team comprising Mohammed Rashid and Syeda Umme Salma; ‘NEP and Classroom Strategies’ by Rajendran S; ‘Instilling Growth Mindset with Art Integration’ by Rajani S N, Fency Pathrose and Nisha Menon; ‘Promoting Growth Mindset among Teachers and Learners’ by Jency George; ‘Physical Fitness Training Session (for gents) and Aerobics (for ladies) by Akbar Ali and Nazanin Salim Nadaf, Department of Physical Education; 'Health Issues among Children and COVID-19 Precautions and Protocols after Mid-Year Holiday' by Gincy Wilson, Shiju Sebastian and Presilla K. Augustine, Welfare Department; ‘ERP Training for the newly inducted teachers’ by Mohsina Zameel, Mohsina Parveen, Ahmmed Shahid and Ankush Kumar, ERP Coordinators; ‘Discipline in Classrooms and School’ by Akbar Ali, Nazanin Salim Nadaf, Fency Pathrose, Mohammed Asadullah, Mohammed Navas and Lancy Vitus, In-charge teachers of the Discipline Committee; ‘Qatar History Lesson Plan and Activities’ by Nadeera Beegum Haneefa and Reshma Khan; ‘KG Class –Interesting Plan’ by Cheryl and Dolette; ‘Using Interactive Panel’ by Sahana and Jamsheera; and ‘Activities for KG Classes’ by Ghazala and Amina.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to all the presenters in recognition of their significant contribution to the success of the teachers’ orientation programme.
Each session conducted by the members of the school staff was unique in its own way. The three-day orientation sessions brought out an exuding level of confidence among the presenters, and the enthusiastic responses of the participants, who were enriched by the hands on experience provided in the course of the event. The attendees included teachers, staff and officials of the school. Jency George, Mary Cynthia S, Resmi Ajith Kumar, Althea Nazareth and Ashina Ashraf were the coordinators of the event.
