Ankara: Turkey reiterated that Bashar al Assad no longer has a chance to build the future of Syria and Ankara's continuation with its regime is out of the question.
Turkey cannot continue to cooperate with the Assad regime, and that "the injustice of the shedding of the blood of its people cannot contribute to the establishment of a future for Syria, the spokesman for Turkish President Recep Erdogan, Ibrahim Gulen said in response to a question on whether Turkey will agree to a transition phase involving Bashar al Assad, and the possibility of Ankara's direct contact with the Syrian regime In the coming days, Turkish CNN reported.
"When we talk about a political transition, the question of Assad's survival remains outside this scene, and Turkish President Recep Erdogan has emphasized this several times," Gulen added.
Turkey's disagreement with Russia and Iran about Bashar al Assad's future does not mean there is no possibility of joint action on other issues that have been agreed upon, Gulen clarified.
"We have to work on Aleppo and the areas of tension reduction and Idlib and other issues.
"There are only two countries that influence the Assad regime, Iran and Russia and if we want to achieve a result on the ground, we have to do it by working with them," Gulen stated.
Gulen pointed out that Iran and Russia are neighboring countries of Turkey, therefore they are important to Turkey, however this does not mean that we agree on all issues.
