Lusail City company in QR6.2bn contract deal

DOHA: Qatar’s largest Greenfield developer Lusail City Real Estate Development Company (LCRDC) has announced QR6.2bn worth contract works in the LCRDC. 
The various construction packages include Lusail Plaza, development of Commercial Street and a unique Crescent-shaped Street.
The development projects will be located within the Central Zone of the 38sqkm Lusail City.The Central Zone, also known as the heart of Lusail City, include the Commercial Waterfront District that forms the silhouette of Lusail City’s marina design, the Lusail Towers District and Plaza that together form the face of Lusail City as the financial centre, and the Commercial Boulevard that runs through Qatar’s biggest real estate undertaking to date.
The Qatari Diar-Bin Laden Construction joint venture is the contractor of Lusail Plaza. The Lusail Plaza is one of the biggest projects of Lusail City. The QR.4.12bn estimated project will be linked with internal roads connected to trams and underground rails. The project work includes a multi-storey parking facility where 3,200 cars can be parked at a time. The 39,309 sqm project is expected to be completed in 2018.
The joint venture WCT and Al Ahli has bagged the QR1.21bn worth contract for the Commercial Street project. The 1.8km long shopping street will be the first of its kind in the GCC. The 94 metre wide four-lane street will start from Al Khor road linking Lusail Plaza. Equipped with four underground parking areas, the facility will be able to accommodate 4,000 vehicles at a time. It will also have four stations for trams. 
The third package Crescent-shaped Street includes the development of 3 km-long stretch for an estimated QR918m. 
Commenting on the deal, Issa Mohammed Ali Galadari, CEO of Lusail Real Estate Development Company told Al Arab:” These three projects represent the major development at the heart of Lusail City, where the completion of the infrastructure work we have accomplished a very important step in this huge project.” 
The LCRDC is committed to encourage Qatari companies in alliance with international companies for the implementation of Lusail City project, “Thus we help local companies improve their capacity and experience in carrying out mega projects which are often complex in terms of design and implementation... We want to enhance the capabilities of local companies in executing mega projects,” he said.
Khalid Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Executive Director, Infrastructure, LCRDC, noted the developers will be providing state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities within the Lusail City. Once completed, the project will offer a unique experience to the residents as well as visitors.
