ISLAMABAD: Pakistani police yesterday said they had defused a car bomb near the house of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.
Islamabad police chief Bani Amin said the explosive-laden vehicle was found parked about 150 metres from the main gate of Musharraf’s house on the capital’s outskirts.
“When we checked the car we found explosives,” police bomb squad constable Rehmat Ali said. There were several remote-controlled detonators rigged to the explosives, which were disarmed.
Police were investigating how the vehicle was able to approach Musharraf’s house.
