Doha: Doha College has secured a long-term lease on land that will allow the college to build a new campus.
As per an agreement signed with Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani, the new Doha College campus will be located in Abu Hamour and it will offer additional classes for primary and secondary school, with new campus expected to open by September 2016.
Sheikh Khalid and Ahmed Saleh Al Khalaqi were present at the signing ceremony, apart from the principal of Doha College, Mark Leppard, senior vice principal Teresa Woulfe and Business Manager Luke Godley. Doha College’s Board of Governors were represented by Chairman Graeme Bolton and Vice Chairman Shams Hasan.
Sheikh Khalid said that he was excited to watch Doha College’s New Campus grow and that he would encourage the whole community to support education in Qatar. Bolton said that the new campus is part of the College’s long term strategic vision to be recognised as one of the leading international schools in the world.
Leppard said that educational areas within Qatar are stretched, and increasingly companies were advising the school to find places for their staff. “Securing this land for our new campus will help to solve this problem. However, we are a not-for-profit school and all of our profits are used to increase the education of the children,” the principal said.
“To build and equip this campus we will need to raise funds and we hope companies and the community in Qatar will support us through sponsorship and our debenture or secured school places programme,” Leppard added. The Peninsula
