Muscat: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Wednesday in Muscat with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and ways to support and strengthen them. They also discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability in the region following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of ensuring the security and freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and keeping it open to international shipping without fees, in accordance with the rules of international law and the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding, and in a manner that guarantees the sovereign rights of the littoral states of the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf states.
During the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar’s full support for the ongoing negotiations between the American and Iranian sides to reach sustainable solutions to outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means, thereby enhancing regional security, contributing to opening new horizons for cooperation, development and prosperity, and achieving the common interests of the peoples of the region and the world.
