The project, worth $274.7m, has been designed by Chicago-based Helmut Jahn. Currently the final touches are being made to the project prior to official launch, due to take place in the first quarter of 2013.
The project includes five halls without pillars, with each hall spanning an area of 5,500 to 7,500sqm, said a report posted on the website of onlineqatar.
Qatar is in need of such centres, as the existing ones cannot accommodate all convention and exhibition events held throughout the year, said Taha Abdul Ghani, the General Manager of Inma, a distributor of plant, machinery and equipment. This new project is hoped to increase Qatar’s capacity to host global events, he added.
