Malarvadi Balasangham Qatar Chapter in association with Malabar Gold and Diamonds organised mega drawing competition for children on Friday.
The event, conducted as part of Indian Republic Day celebrations, was attended by more than 7,500 students from 15 Indian schools. The event was held simultaneously at MES School in Doha and Al Misnad School in Al Khor from 8 am until 5pm.
A jury, consisting of 15 prominent artists and painters, will select the winners. The first three winners in each category will be awarded gold medals, mementoes and certificates and the next 25 winners will be presented consolation prizes and certificates. Prize distribution will be held later at a grand programme.
As part of colouring contest, a blood and organ donation camp was also organised for parents and guardians with the co-operation of the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) during the event, which was utilized by many people, said Programme Convener Abdul Jaleel M M.
Programme was officially inuagrated by Doha based artist Dr Sreekumar Padmanabhan, while Talal Al Ansari, casting manager of Al Jazeera Children’s channel, was the chief guest, Malarvadi Chief Patron, who is also Indian Islamic Association President K C Abdul Latheef, MES school managing committee member Khaleel, Al Jazeera’s production manager Manoj Mishra, Malabar Gold & Diamonds Regional head Santhosh T V, IIA Secretary P M. Aboobackar were also present. Malarvadi Qatar Chapter chief coordinator Siddique Padiyath welcomes the gathering and General Convenor Abdul Latheef V P proposed vote of thanks.
