DOHA: Rival Yemeni factions have agreed in principle to hold reconciliation talks in Doha, but no date has yet been set, a foreign minisstry source said. The source spoke to Reuters after Aljazeera television quoted UN Yemen envoy Jamal Benomar as saying the discussions would be held in Qatar and that any subsequent agreement reached would be signed in Saudi Arabia.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah yesterday hold telephone calls with the British Secretary of State Philip Hammond, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and US Secretary of State John Kerry, separately on the latest developments in Yemen.
Meanwhile, the US military has pulled its remaining personnel out of Yemen due to the deteriorating security situation, the State Department said. The evacuation involved about 100 Special Operations forces members from the Al Anad airbase, sources in the region familiar with the situation told CNN. The State Department called it a temporary relocation.
Those evacuated, which include Navy SEALs and members of the Army’s Delta Force, were the last American forces stationed in the Arab nation, which is home to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the terrorist group also known as AQAP. Agencies
