Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team's Spanish rider Maverick Vinales in action at Losail International Circuit.
Maverick Vinales made an impressive comeback to top the timesheet after the third MotoGP free practice, clocking 1:54.848 at the Losail International Circuit yesterday.
The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider, crashed during the second free practice yesterday, but made an impressive comeback on his back up bike. He was faster than Andrea Iannone of Team Suzuki Ecstar who clocked his fastest lap time at 1:54.848. French rider Johann Zarco of Monster Yamaha Tech 3 was third on the list with 1:55.008, followed by Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati Team ( 1:55.042).
Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda took 1:55.113 to finish his fastest lap while Cal Crutchlow of LCR Honda was placed sixth behind him.
The reigning MotoGP champioon Marc Marquez was the seventh in the list of fastest riders after the third free practice with a time of 1:55.296 while Danilo Petrucci (OCTO Pramac Racing), Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) and Aleix Espagaro (Aprilia Racing Team) completed the top 10 of the list.
Earlier it was Octo Pramac Racing rider Scott Redding who shot up the timesheets in the final minutes of the second session - setting a 1:55.085 to win a shootout in the final minutes.
Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso was second, with Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rookie duo Jonas Folger and Johann Zarco just behind. Vinales was placed fifth.
Vinales suffered his first crash of the year as he lost his bike in Turn four when in front of team-mate Valentino Rossi on track. The ‘Doctor’ was on sixth position on the timesheets by the flag.
Alvaro Bautista (Pull&Bear Aspar Team), Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team), reigning Champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) completed the top ten of second free practice.
