DOHA: Qatar Foundation (QF) has received special recognition at this year’s annual ‘Meed Quality Awards’ for Projects.
On behalf of QF, Rasha Al Sulaiti, Project Management Director, Capital Projects Directorate, accepted the Meed Editor’s Award which recognises innovation, design and leadership.
The event was held at a ceremony at the Sofitel Dubai Hotel on the Palm Jumeirah.
Engineer Jassim Telefat, Group Executive Director, QF Capital Projects and Facilities Management, said: “We are honoured to receive the award since it reflects and recognises our commitment to green building design and educate the community on the importance of sustainability.”
“From the beginning, QF’s Education City has been built with the goal of minimising the environmental impact of construction and developing high-performance buildings with significantly reduced energy and water demand to ensure sustainability for future generations.”
Al Sulaiti said: “It is an honour to receive the award on behalf of QF as it encourages us to continue our sustainable construction efforts while adhering to the highest possible global standards. QF remains committed to its vision of community development while maintaining a sustainable environment for generations to come.”
In its fourth year, the award has attracted substantial interest from companies and individuals across the GCC construction industry. Through its annual award, MEED seeks to recognise the finest achievements in the GCC projects industry, and celebrate all those who have made possible the exceptional design and delivery of major projects. The QF Male and Female Student Housing project was also commended in the two key award categories — Sustainable Project of the Year and the Louis Berger Building Project of the Year.
