Emir greeted on accession anniversary

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has received a message from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, greeting him on the first anniversary of his Accession.
Mukherjee said, “On behalf of the Government and the people of India and my behalf, I extend warm greetings and congratulations to Your Highness and the people of Qatar on the occasion of the anniversary of Your Highness’s accession.
“Our historical and friendly relations are deeply rooted in millennia-old cultural, religious and economic ties, characterised by extensive people-to-people contacts. I am confident that our multi-faceted engagement in different fields would deepen and strengthen our cooperation for the benefit of both our peoples. I take this opportunity to convey to Your Highness my best wishes for your health and well-being and for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Qatar. Please accept, Your Highness, the assurances of my highest consideration.”

Heritage session ‘a success’


Doha: Qatar’s Permanent Representative at Unesco, Ali Zainal, said Doha has successfully hosted the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee over 10 days and that all participants expressed gratitude for the Qatari people’s hospitality. Zainal hailed H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani’s management as Chairperson of the session. He said registering three of four Arab sites is a huge achievement for Arab delegations.
